About the Northern California Cruisers
The Northern California Cruisers classic car club was established in 1990. We are a totally non-profit organization with 36 families, mostly living in the Pinole, Richmond, San Pablo, El Sobrante, Hercules, and Crockett, California, areas. We do have several members living in the North Bay and East County areas, as well the states of Oregon and Nevada. Most of our members are childhood and high school friends from those days of "Cruising The Main" on Macdonald Avenue in Richmond, California, in the 1950s and 1960s.
Since we established, we have hosted 18 annual classic car shows. The first nine shows were at the Napa Fairgrounds in Napa, California. The last nine car shows were held in the city of Pinole, California. Our 2010 car show will be on Sunday, June 27, 2010.
Our membership decided at our inception that we would try to contribute to charitable organizations and non-profit groups through money earned from our classic car show. Through the dedication of our members we have established and host our annual Crab Feed in January of each year at the Fratellanza Club in Oakland, California. Next year's date is January 30, 2010. Contact us for information at nomadjon@pacbell.net. Through combined events, the Northern California Cruisers have contributed nearly $300,000. All profits are donated to various charitable organizations approved by our membership. In the past 10 years, $70,000 has been awarded to such groups as the Bay Area Crisis Nursery in Concord, California, the California Autism Foundation, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and ARF, Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation.
Through our classic car show and personal contributions of our members, we have awarded in excess of $82,000 to Children's Hospital in Oakland, California, and to the Children's Hospital Family House.
We have supported the Thunder Road Program in Oakland, California, which helps young men and women, ages 13 years to 19 years, re-find their lives and leave the hopelessness of substance abuse. This program helps young people from various communities in Northern California.
We have contributed $50,000 in the last nine years to the Pinole Youth Foundation in the city of Pinole, California.
During our 19 years in existence, we have contributed to over 30 organizations including: the American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, Katrina Relief, Guide Dogs for the Blind, the Crohn's Disease Foundation, the Scleroderma Foundation, the Bay Area Rescue Mission, the National Heart Fund, the Canine Companions Organization and the Richmond Food Pantry, to name a few.
It is through the dedication and generosity of our club members, fellow hot rodders, classic car owners and our generous sponsors that such events are established and successfully completed.
The Northern California Cruisers remain dedicated to helping find a cure, making someone's life more comfortable, helping those in need, and assisting groups that take care of the children … our future.
